Shelf Strips

Long printed strips along the shelf edge that turn a scattered set of facings into one branded block.

Shelf strips are the least expensive way to claim shelf territory. They do not hold stock and they do not need floor space — they simply make a run of facings read as a single brand block.

The two decisions are length and fixing. Length has to match the planogram run, which differs between retail chains, so strips are often supplied in more than one length for the same campaign. Fixing is adhesive, channel-insert or clip, depending on the shelf hardware the chain uses.

Because the strip is read at an angle from a metre away, artwork should carry a short message in large type — not specifications.

Frequently asked questions

Which material is best for shelf strips?

It depends on the span and the environment. Thin board is fine for short runs in dry aisles; PVC or Sunpack hold a longer unsupported span and survive chilled and humid aisles where paper board curls.

Can shelf strips be reused?

Clip-fixed and channel-inserted strips can often be removed and refitted. Adhesive-fixed strips generally cannot be lifted cleanly, so plan them as single-campaign items.

Do you supply different lengths in one order?

Yes. Different retail chains use different shelf lengths, so supplying two or three lengths within one campaign is normal. Send the run lengths per chain and the store counts.
